We are pleased to introduce our Student Pathways diagram which will help families understand what we offer. This diagram summarizes the different paths that students can take in their learning journey at My Coding Place. Discover more about each pathway and how we can guide you in technology education!
In this blog, we describe the blocks in each pathway, which, in practice, are not linear in progression and illustrate high level subjects within each program. The Student Pathways diagram outlines five distinct pathways in technology education, with three of the pathways beginning with a common foundation in block coding. From there, students branch into specialized areas based on their interests and goals.
The Coding pathway develops core programming skills. Students progress from block-based logic to text-based languages, then object-oriented programming, app development, and web development, building a strong foundation in software creation.
The Game Development pathway focuses on interactive design. After learning block coding to understand the fundamentals, students move into level design, artificial intelligence, game scripting, and understanding game engine fundamentals, preparing them to build full-featured games.
The Robotics & Devices pathway emphasizes physical computing and engineering. Students explore robotics, drones, 3D printing, and computer hardware, combining coding with real-world applications and hands-on technology.
The Digital Art pathway nurtures creative and visual communication skills. Students work on digital graphics, animation, video editing, illustration, and portfolio development, preparing for creative roles in tech and media.
Finally, the General pathway supports essential digital literacy for all learners. It includes online safety, digital citizenship, computing principles, keyboarding, and math-integrated problem solving, building a well-rounded tech foundation.
